The Center for Advanced Interdisciplinary Research in Materials Sciences- CIMAT is an initiative that brings together physicists, engineers, chemists and biologists.

Its mission is scientific research and graduate student training in the field of materials, at the highest level of excellence.

CIMAT’s activities provide Chile with R & D materials expertise needed for a competitive economy and a sustainable development.

Parameters in line with CIMAT’s activities are the sustainability and increase of Cooper and Molybdenum markets, materials behavior in mining processes, the development of new materials for the packaging of export products industry, as well as the solution of materials-related energy, environmental and health problems.
